    Teen Held After Man's Body Found In Canal

    A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was found in a canal.

    Police were called to Canal Street in Manchester city centre where they made the discovery on Saturday afternoon.

    The man has been named as Simon Brass, 40, from Salford.

    A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as drowning.

    There were no were no injuries to his body.

    The teenage suspect is being questioned in custody and inquiries are ongoing.

    Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson said: "As a result of information received from the community, we have made this arrest.

    "However, we are still eager to talk to anyone who may have information as to what led up to the discovery of the man's body."
