The Ten Commandments of Tim Tebow: Explaining His Stunning Success

Tim Tebow is having an unbelievable run as the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos this season. Since he is a deeply religious person, I think it is fitting to explain his success in those terms. Here are the Ten Commandments of Tim Tebow.

    1. Thou shalt not turn the ball over.

One reason why Tebow has been so successful is that he protects the ball. He has won seven out of his eight starts. In all the wins, Tebow has only three turnovers.

    2. Thou shalt not quit.

There is no quit in Tebow. Watch how he plays. Look at his body language. No matter what the score, he plays with the same urgency and purpose.

    3. Thou shalt not put thy own self before the team.

Football is a team sport and Tebow is the ultimate team player. He gives credit to his teammates on offense and defense. He is willing to sacrifice his own passing numbers for the good of the team.

    4. Thou shalt do whatever it takes to win.

Tebow does whatever it takes to win. If that means completing just two passes, so be it.

    5. Thou shalt not force the ball.

Tebow has thrown just one interception in his seven wins as a starter. He has an ability to throw the ball where only his receiver can catch it. Tebow also seems to know that incomplete passes are better than interceptions.

    6. Thou shalt recognize thine own faults.

Tebow will never throw the ball like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. But that is perfectly fine with him. He recognizes his shortcomings as a pure passer and understands what he can do on the field.

    7. Thou shalt stay true to thy self.

It is no secret that Tebow is a deeply religious person. People have mocked him for his religious gestures. Our great country believes in religious freedom. We should not criticize Tebow for his religious beliefs. Instead, we should admire him for staying true to himself and drawing from that strength to be successful.

    8. Thou shalt make big plays in the fourth quarter.

No lead is safe against Tebow and the Broncos. Just look at all their fourth quarter performances. It seems like divine intervention played a role in these miraculous comebacks.

    9. Thou shalt score efficiently.

Tebow has orchestrated touchdowns more often than any quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) this season. In other words, Tebow needs fewer touches to get the ball into the end zone.

    10. Thou shalt inspire the team to play better.

This is practically the same Broncos team that took the field before Tebow became the starter. Yet they are playing much better. The offense and defense have played solid, inspired football thanks to the leadership of Tebow. This is truly a case of a player making those around him better.

These ten reasons explain why Tebow and the Broncos have been so successful this season. The games have been different, exciting and sometimes miraculous. Who knows if they can keep this up? I know I am a believer.
