The introduction of the 'Relfie'?: Boy takes selfie with PRINCE CHARLES during Royal church visit

A cheeky schoolboy took a SELFIE of himself and PRINCE CHARLES on his mobile phone during a Royal visit to a church centre.

The unnamed boy, a member of the Coptic Orthodox Church Centre in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, snapped the picture as the Prince of Wales chatted to the congregation.

He asked Prince Charles if he could take a photo, then quickly pressed the button before the future king could refuse.

The plucky youngster said: "I went up to him and said if I could take a photograph of him - and then well I didn't wait for the bodyguards to push me out of the way, I just took a picture."

Prince Charles, wearing a navy blue suit and checked tie, stood behind the boy and looked quizzically into the camera.

He was visiting the church to show his support for Christians in the Middle East and was accompanied by Prince Ghazi of Jordan.

The pair aimed to show the importance of harmony between different faiths.

The word 'selfie' has become increasingly popular in 2013, and was named 'Word of the year' by the Oxford English dictionary.

Stars from around the globe have taken part in the phenomenon, with Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian regularly posting shots on their social media pages.

Recently, David Cameron and Barack Obama received a storm of criticism when they took a selfie with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at a memorial service for Nelson Mandela.
