Top five videos that really got you talking

From ill-fated moments caught on CCTV to a really stupid homemade experiment, here is our round-up of the year’s top five videos on Yahoo! News – and yes the list does include that talking dog.

1. Diet Coke and Mentos fail

A hilarious video of a cameraman taking a blow to the face during a mental experiment using a bottle of Diet Coke and Mentos took the Web by storm back in May – and of course our avid video watchers couldn’t wait to see the final result.

In the video, the man making the Coke and soft mint concoction waits nervously for the ingredients inside the bottle to set off the chemical reaction before the cameraman gets knocked out and soaked in the fizzy stuff. Ouch!

2. ‘Talking’ dog wows the Web

German Shepherd Clark became a Web video legend after his owner superimposed a Scooby-Doo-like voice on the canine as it growls, creating the perfect lip sync. During the minute-long footage, the apparently famished dog gets wound up by his owner as he tells him about all his favourite treats stocked up in the fridge.

A devastated Clark starts crying and shaking his head when his owner reveals to him that he has eaten all the maple bacon and juicy steak. But it’s not all bad news, his owner says that he has ‘something special’ left in there - chicken covered in cheese and cat treats.

The dog’s ultimate nightmare comes when he eventually discovers that the cat ate it all up. We don’t know about you, but this video really put a smile on our face.
3. New Zealand Helicopter crash

A disaster was caught on film in November after a helicopter that was helping install a Christmas tree in New Zealand ended up tangled in some wires and crashed to the ground.

The whole accident was broadcast live online to hundreds of horrified Auckland viewers. Fortunately, the pilot and bystanders all escaped unharmed.

4. Error! Man walks through glass window The unfortunate moment a tired security guard walked through a glass window during a night shift was caught on CCTV. The short clip shows the man disregarding a wide-open door and mistakenly walking straight through a glass window pane instead – shattering it completely.

Realising the massive error, he clutches his face in agony while the whole glass pane crashes down behind him. He then proceeds to kneel to the floor in pain.

It may have just been a long day at the office or the glass was very weak. Painful!
5. Cliff collapse caught on film

A cameraman was definitely in the right place at the right time when Britain’s largest cliff collapse for years was caught on film.

The footage, filmed on Cornwall’s North Cliffs near Hell's Mouth, shows thousands of tonnes of rock from a cliff-edge suddenly crashing into the sea. The clip captured the attention of geologists worldwide who rarely see such footage of unpredictable rock falls.

Speaking about how rare the footage was, British Geological Survey engineering geologist Pete Hobbs told the Guardian: “You get something like this once every five years maybe – the chances of catching this on video are incredibly slim, I suspect the cameraman must have noticed something.”
