Top Three Fantasy Football Stars from Super Bowl XLVI: Fan’s View

At the conclusion of Super Bowl XLVI, a game won by the New York Giants, 21-17, the 2011-12 fantasy football season was finally complete. While regular season playoff championships were decided quite a while ago, those GMs who decided to take part in playoff fantasy leagues still had high hopes for a title. Which players from the Giants and New England Patriots had the best performance in the Super Bowl?

(Scores are done in accordance with the system I have listed here)

    Eli Manning - 17.74 points

While Manning didn't put up incredible numbers in the Super Bowl like he did throughout the rest of the playoffs, he was the MVP of the game and can now rub it in Peyton Manning's face that he has more rings when they get together at Easter. Against the Patriots, Manning threw for 296 yards and a touchdown, out-producing Tom Brady and leading the Giants to their second consecutive Super Bowl win against the Patriots. For the playoffs, Manning was the fantasy MVP, scoring 102.76 points.

    Aaron Hernandez - 17.35 points

With Rob Gronkowski struggling to even move down the field, Hernandez saw the bulk of the action at the tight end position. He led the team eight receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. With the New England rushing attack struggling to get anything going against the Giants, I am shocked the team didn't put Hernandez in the backfield at all. In their divisional round thrashing of the Denver Broncos, Hernandez led the team with 61 yards rushing, including a 43-yarder. Had the Patriots given Hernandez a go in the backfield on Super Sunday, the outcome would have been different.

    Ahmad Bradshaw - 13.2 points

Despite his terrible blunder at the end of the game, Bradshaw still had one of the better performances of any player. Had the Patriots come back to win on their final drive, Bradshaw may have become the biggest goat in the history of football, but instead, will always be able to say he scored the game-winning touchdown in a Super Bowl. Bradshaw did have a solid game overall, carrying the ball 17 times for 72 yards and a touchdown, along with two receptions and 19 yards, but a loss would have made him the villain in New York.
