The New York Jets had a miserable December that included devastating losses in consecutive weeks to the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. To make the playoffs, the Jets will now need to beat the Miami Dolphins on New Year's Day and get plenty of help from other teams in the AFC.
Regardless of the losses, several Jets were very active on Twitter this month, especially during the Christmas break. Here's a look back at the most notable Jets tweets from December.
Christmas Greetings
A handful of Jets used Twitter to wish "Happy Holidays" to their fans around the nation. Santonio Holmes (@santonio10) tweeted "Merry Christmas to the world and to all have a Happy New Year. Go Jets!! Go Bucks!!"
Aaron Maybin (@aaronmaybin51) posted "Wishing all friends, fam, and loved ones a very blessed and merry Christmas. Be thankful with an attitude of gratitude."

Jim Leonhard Gives Injury Status Updates
Jets safety Jim Leonhard (@jimleonhard) sustained a season-ending knee injury in a December clash against the Kansas City Cheifs. Leonhard has since been busy using Twitter to update fans on his recovery status.
Leonard tweeted "It's official, the nerve block wore off. Kids...Don't tear your patellar tendon, it's quite painful." Later in the week, he posted "I want to thank everyone for the support. We've been here before and came back stronger than ever. Things happen for a reason, I'll find it." Finally, he wrote "Surgery went well today. Thanks again for all the support. No better day to start the long road back."
Nick Mangold's Contest
In the spirit of Christmas, Jets center Nick Mangold used Twitter to run a special holiday contest to give fans a chance to win tickets to the Dec. 24 home game against the Giants. Mangold tweeted "First person to tweet the answer wins the tickets! Who is driving me to the #JETS team hotel and what kind of car are we in? Go!" Later in the day, Mangold said "We have a winner. Congrats to @skrubba05. The answer was @Mark_Sanchez and a Toyota." Follow Mangold on Twitter @nickmangold.
John Connor Loves The Triple-Option
Jets fullback John Connor tweeted "Love watching this triple option offense #armyvsnavy." Ironically, the Jets were beaten by Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos' triple-option offense just a few weeks earlier. Follow Connor on Twitter @jconnor38.
