    Topman Withdraws 'Offensive' T-Shirts

Topman has withdrawn two T-Shirts from sale following an online campaign by a domestic abuse charity.

The tops both carried messages which abuse charity Tender said "appeared to be making light of the excuses made for domestic abuse".

One T-shirt carried the words "I'm so sorry but..." followed by a series of "answer options" next to tick boxes.

The "answer" included "You provoked me", "I was drunk" and "I hate you".

The second item was printed with the words: "Nice girlfriend. What breed is she?"

Tender had set up an online donation site to try to raise more money than the T-shirt raised through sales, but the campaign went viral and spread to Facebook, prompting hundreds of people to join in protest.

In a statement, Topman said: "We have received some negative feedback regarding two of our printed T-shirts.

"Whilst we would like to stress that these T-shirts were meant to be light-hearted and carried no serious meaning, we have made the decision to remove these from store and online as soon as possible.

"We would like to apologise to those who may have been offended by these designs."

A spokesperson for Tender said: "We are really pleased that Topman have taken notice of our campaign and have responded positively by removing these T-shirts from sale and we would like to thank them for that.

"We are in touch with them and have offered them the opportunity to support Tender's preventative work and to attend a training course about abuse."

Yesterday so many of the comments said 'you can't tell it is about violence' and 'it is all a bit of fun, this is PC rubbish'.

So why did the campaign work? If the meaning was so ambiguous, and it is just a minority of 'humourless feminists' why did Topman drop the line. Obviously they felt that it would damage sales, and as women do not tend to shop in Topman I am guessing (and hoping) that some men also found these t shirts offensive.

It was successful because everyone thinks it's politically correct to jump on the band wagon in this nanny state within this Godforsaken country which I used to be so very very proud of!!

Everyone? Clearly not you and all the other tossers. There is nothing PC about finding these t shirts offensive. it is called common sense. And I will reiterate - Topman wouldn't have withdrawn them if they had not believed that sales would be affected, I don;t believe for a minute that Topman have jumped on a PC bandwagon.

The campaign worked because wimen get what women want .
All we ever hear from political parties (all sides ) is women this ,women that ,what can we do for women etc .
Women have all the power ,this has proved it beyond any doubt

Political correctness aside, these t-shirts are tacky and tasteless beyond belief - the kind of thing you would expect to see on chavs in Magaluf. I can“t see whoever gave the green light to such grotty clothing having a golden future career in the high street clothing industry.

Any bloke who wears this will almost certainly have a face like he was bobbing for nails in a deep fat fryer.

A Manchester Boutique 'Topbird' has retaliated to the controvery by creating t-shirts that say 'If you c**k is less than 9", jog on' and 'How much do you earn?' on the front and 'If it's less than 50k p.a., keep walking'

Fair enough . Will these T-shirts be withdawn ? Of course not (nor should they be ) but it just goes to show the double standards of the feminist establishment
