Toy Fair 2014: Five great gadget toys to watch out for in 2014

Toy Fair 2014 is currently in full swing at London's Olympia and there are all kinds of toys and gadgets waiting to be found amongst the life-sized Minions walking the aisles.

Here are five great gadget toys we came across at the event to keep your eye out for in 2014.

Vtech Kidizoom smartwatch - £39.99

Vtech launched the Kidizoom at Toy Fair 2014, a child-friendly smartwatch said to bring technology to kids in a fun, interactive, safe and educational way.

The smartwatch comes with a 1.4-inch colour touchscreen and a 0.3-megapixel camera allowing photo capture, followed by editing with the special photo effects.

There are three built-in games along with 20 different clock faces to choose from and you will also be able to connect the watch to your PC to upload the pictures you have taken.

Scalextric RCS Race Control System - From £40

Toy Fair 2014 saw the launch of Scalextric's first 1:32 scale slot car Race Control System that will allow you to use a Bluetooth-enabled device to wirelessly create and manage races.

There are three sets available including RCS One, RCS Air and RCS Pro, and each provides a variation of app functionality including race modes, in-race settings, pre-race configuration and social media.

The RCS Pro is the premium set and lets you race up to 6 cars wirelessly, along with complete app functionality including a range of racing modes and in-face features such as yellow flag that kills the power when a car jumps off the track.

TobyRich SmartPlane - £59

TobyRich showcased its SmartPlane at Toy Fair 2014, offering a plane that is controlled via Bluetooth and an app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.

The SmartPlane weighs 10g and comes with a back fin that steers the plane and a front propeller that powers it, along with a Micro-USB port for charging it.

You control the plane using with app, with side-to-side movements guiding the plane left or right and up and down movements on the sliders resulting in an increase or decrease in the speed and gradient.

Playmobil Remote Control Police Car with Camera - £139.99

Playmobil is 40 this year and in celebration of the anniversary, it has launched a number of special edition toys including the Remote Control Police Car with Camera.

The police car comes with a colour camera in the passenger seat that records what is going on, displaying it on a handheld monitor, and there is a remote control that lets you drive the car to where you want to film.

You'll also find a cable in the set, which allows you to connect it up to your computer and download your recordings, along with the essential police accessories.

Lego Ultra Agents - TBC

Lego announced a number of exciting products on its stand at Toy Fair 2014, one of which was a new refreshed Ultra Agents collection.

The collection comes with a range of new minifigs, along with a truck that expands into a HQ and features other vehicles within it.

There is also an app that uses augmented reality to bring the minifigs to life and give you missions to complete. Build the product, download the free app and follow the commands to complete the mission and find out who the bad guy is.
