Video: MP Anne Marie Morris ‘explodes’ in Parliament

Relatively unknown backbench MP Anne Marie Morris shot to infamy this afternoon after making an astonishing outburst during Prime Minister’s Questions.

Taking the floor from David Cameron, the MP for Newton Abbot began by energetically asserting that the Conservative Party’s policy on technical colleges is “very good”, shrieking above the din of the House of Commons.

Prompting cheers of “more, more” from MPs, Miss Morris continued to bellow her point, wildly gesticulating with her arms. All this despite wearing a sling on her left arm – supporting an injury she sustained moving office equipment around her home.

Getting noticeably redder in the face, the MP concluded by asking David Cameron if he would continue to fund technical colleges. The culmination of her spirited outburst was cut off by the microphones in Parliament, leaving her shouting inaudible to the viewing public before she sat down.

Speaker of the House John Bercow quipped that he intervened “for the sake of Anne Marie Morris’ health”.

Thanking the Tory MP for her input, David Cameron said that it was “good to see the honourable lady on such fine form”.

The bizarre outburst sent viewers into a frenzy on Twitter, with user Sam Prest posting: “Anne Marie Morris just exploded.”

Journalist Matt Chorley joked: “Anne Marie Morris should be the new host of the Radio 1 breakfast show. That would get you out of bed.”
