Apple CEO forces software division chief out

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has pushed out the chief of their mobile software division Scott Forstall. Forstall leaves following problems with the mapping software in the tech giants iPhone and iPad devices. A long-time lieutenant of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, his departure follows years of friction with other top executives. The move forms part of a widespread management shake-up, which also sees John Browett, head of retail lose his job after only seven months. The industry has become a battleground, with Apple facing stiff competition from the likes of Samsung, Amazon and Microsoft.
