More wacky record attempts for Guinness World Record Day

The largest 3D painting (1160.45m²) by Joe Hill.Ever fancied trying to help set a world record?

Brits have already been part of the largest cream tea party (334 people) and the most amount of people to fit in a single pair of pants (57) to mark Guinness World Records Day.

The 7th annual Guinness World Records Day  will see 300,000 people from all over the world try their hand at smashing some wacky world records today.

London played host  to several record attempts, including showcasing the tallest basketball player Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, 23,  who is a staggering 7 ft 7.26in-tall.

Amongst the headline record attempts which took place earlier today in Canary Wharf, London, British artist Joe Hill broke the previous Chinese held record for the largest 3D painting measuring 1160.45m².

Joining in with the fun, British inventors Edd China (fastest toilet, 42.25 mph); Colin Furze (fastest mobility scooter, 71.59 mph); and Perry Watkins (smallest roadworthy car, measuring 41 in high and 26 in wide, 30 mph) raced against one another.

Other crazy record breaking attempts have included the longest underwater radio broadcast and the heaviest tea bag which measures 8ft x 8ft and weighs in at over 100kg in Portsmouth.

“You don’t need to have a unique talent or possess super skills to take part in a world record attempt,” editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records, Craig Glenday, said. “That’s the spirit of Guinness World Records Day – getting involved and having some fun”.

“There are so many record attempts going on around the world on this one day that people won’t have to look far for some first-hand record breaking excitement,” he added.

Here are some of the latest records which were broken on Guinness World Records Day

To be honest RACHAEL, I'm 21, living at home, and struggling at work at the minute. If I had had a baby at sixteen, I'd have a house and be in a better position than I am now! So no wonder so many younger people do it. Anyway, good article! Wonder what they will be doing next. :)

Doomsday Book 1086 British population some 2-4 million.

Very little infrastructure. No DWELLINGS higher than 1/2 stories.

Most amount of reactionary, semi-literate jokers who have no life and spend all day ranting on Yahoo about how terrible this country and their lives are due to illegal immigrants, politicians and anybody else who isn't a reactionary, semi-literate joker. Congratulations everyone!

There a world record for almost anything, it's just a joke.
it should be hard things to accomplish, such as fastest person to climber of the Mount Everest. But things like the largest teabag is just pointless

Compare civilian population figures to Military land army unit sizes.

Battallion strength some 40,000 if I remember right.

      Other countries have differing systems.

      World record for lowest IQ?
