10 alternative venues to watch World Cup 2018

Found on the pebbly Brighton beach, east of Palace Pier, the Luna Beach Cinema is taking a break from movies to show a number of World Cup matches throughout June and July, starting with Russia v Saudi Arabia on the 14th.

Tickets range from standard deckchairs to four-person VIP beach huts – complete with butler service (you deserve a World Cup butler) and a complimentary mini bar –which are available to rent.

Found smack bang in the middle of London Bridge and Borough, Flat Iron Square is found under railway arches and boasts bars, food vendors and street food sellers.

All the World Cup matches will be shown on 100-inch HD screens, so there's no chance of a lanky guy in a hat ruining your tournament.

London's ping-pong-themed Bounce bars are erecting 12ft screens for games in their London venues. In the Farringdon branch, England, France, Australia and Germany games will be shown while Old Street will cater to matches featuring England, Spain, Poland and Brazil (along with others).

Expect group ping-pong matches, a brass band, half time shows, specific country-inspired pizzas and a 'World Cup Disco' every Saturday. There's also private rooms (again, with ping-pong tables, obviously) available to book from £69pp.

Scotland may have missed out on a place in the tournament but Edinburgh are still getting into the international spirit. The Three Sisters, found in the Scottish capital, are showing fixtures on the 225 inch screen in their outdoor terrace.

Street food stalls are on hand, and the venue will also put on a penalty shoot-out and the night will end with a DJ.

Collaborating with other local restaurants and bars, Slim's Pork Chop is offering a different food and drink menu dependent on which countries are playing on the plasma screens in their basement.

For example, for the Mexico v Germany game on the 17th, you can guzzle steins and feast on tacos.

The venue, compiled of shipping containers and first set up in Shoreditch before opening in Croydon, are showing every game at both sites.

Pitchers of beers will be served for £18-£20 and traders will be putting on meal deals depending on which country are playing. It's advised that you pre-book seats, as it could get pretty rammed.

Farringdon's Piano Works and Soho's Studio 88 are showing the matches with a backdrop of live music and burger, hot dog and beer Happy Hour deals.

If you've never been to either venue, there's a live band on stage that takes audience requests (so 'Three Lions' on repeat, basically).

The east London rooftop venue in Tobacco Dock will be screening matches against the scenic London skyline.

As well as lawn games like croquet, during the World Cup months punters can take part in a penalty shoot-out at half time. It's free to get in, but you can also book tables.

South American bar Bodega Cantina, which is found in Birmingham's city centre, is staying true to form by showing all games featuring South (and Central) American competing nations Peru, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. Don't worry, you can catch England there too.

There'll be a range of regional beers, depending on whoever are playing, along with cocktails and street food galore.

The revamped amusement park found on the Kent coast will be screening England v Panama on 24 June as well as the World Cup final.

The games will be shown on the massive outdoor screen in the centre of the venue, and you can go on a couple of rides before to really get the adrenaline going.
