10 Instagram accounts for art lovers
You don’t have to go to a gallery to see art any more - you can find it at your fingertips. Instagram has become a shop window for artists to showcase their talents, and for galleries to present more work than their four walls will allow.
Those looking to brighten up their feeds with art, art and more art, look no further than our list below.
@thegreatwomenartists
Katy Hessel created this account to offer a daily celebration of work by female artists, and it’s a treasure trove of pieces by women. From those new on the scene to those who have fought their way into the canon, the account always offers something to learn as well as to see.

@tanaka_tatsuya
Tanaka’s ‘miniature calendar’ - minute figures living in a world formed by daily objects - is quite a marvel. A polo mint becomes an MRI scanner, a crack in an iPhone becomes a gap in an icy lake. It’s a great tribute to the powers of the imagination.

@museumofselfies
You’ll never look at some of your favourite paintings in the same way again after you see this Instagram account. Olivia Muus, who set up the account, has started a trend for making paintings and sculptures in galleries look like they are taking cheeky selfies - and the results work weirdly well.

Offering a look at highlights from its exhibition programme, as well as stunning pictures from its grounds, it’s enough to send you straight to Citymapper to work out how to get there (don’t panic, it’s only in zone 2).
