The 10 most liked tweets of all time are dominated by US politicians, and include six by former US President Barack Obama.

The list — which also includes Ariana Grande's tweet following the Manchester terrorist attack in May and Ellen DeGeneres' famous "best photo ever" taken at the 2014 Oscars — was assembled by "Twop Blog" in a Medium post.

Obama's tweet about racism following the violence in Charlottesville on Saturday has also become the most-liked tweet with over 3 million likes on Twitter.

"No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion..." the former president wrote, with a picture of young children of different ethnicities.

 The top 10 also features former Democrat candidate for president Hillary Clinton with a message to her supporters after Donald Trump beat her to become president in November 2016.

Despite being a prolific Twitter user US President Donald Trump does not feature in the list.

Twitter introduced "likes" in November 2015 to replace "favourites" and nine of the top 10 tweets have been posted since 2016.
