10 things in tech you need to know today

Good morning! This is the tech news you need to know this Thursday.
1. Facebook beat analysts' expectations on both the top and bottom line for its first quarter of 2018. The Cambridge Analytica data scandal, it appears, has not impacted Facebook's bottom line.
2. Gmail is getting a big overhaul. Some of the changes include better integration with other Google apps, the ability to set expiration dates on emails, and a feature that allows you to sent reminders on emails.
3. Sonos has filed for an IPO and go public as soon as June, The Wall Street Journal reported. The wireless-speaker company would have a market value of about $2.5 billion to $3 billion, a source told The Journal.
4. Amazon is launching a new Echo device specifically for kids. The device, a colorful Echo Dot, will come equipped with parental control features and will be priced at $80.
5. Twitter reported its second quarterly profit in a row, and a slight increase in monthly active users. Net income came to $61 million.
6. Jeff Bezos says he liquidates $1 billion of Amazon every year to fund his space company Blue Origin. Bezos has a net worth of $127 billion, and said no investment is more important than Blue Origin.
7. Research shows that ethnic minority MPs receive, on average, 15% more toxic abuse on Twitter than their white counterparts. The data suggests an undercurrent of racism in public life.
8. Digg, once a major rival to Reddit, has sold to ad tech company BuySellAds.com. The acquisition comes a month after Digg shut down its popular RSS reader, Digg Reader.
9. Facebook and Microsoft will follow the example set by Apple and replace the gun emoji on their platforms, most likely with a squirt gun emoji. Samsung, Twitter, and Google all replaced their gun emojis this year.
10. Kanye West didn't lose 9 million followers after tweeting about his support for Donald Trump. A Twitter spokesperson told INSIDER it's likely that when West deleted his account and reactivated it earlier this month, he didn't get all his followers back at once.
