Animal rescuers have been working day and night to capture around 100 rabbits which were reportedly dumped in woodland. The discovery was made on the evening of Monday, November 11, in Chaddesley Corbett, Worcestershire.

Local teams took to social media to ask for help as they began to take in the animals in need. Sadly, many were already dead according to those at the scene.

Around 60 have been caught, including 40 females believed to be pregnant. Lucky Bunny Rescue and Friends shared an update on Tuesday, November 12.

They said: "This morning we received a call to say around 100 rabbits have been dumped in the woods in Chaddersly Corbet and luckily 56 were caught and secured in a lovely couple's shed.

"We have taken in 16 males and 40 females who we suspect are pregnant and they are all in a bad way. We are a small rescue run from Heathers home by a small team of 4 of us. All of these rabbits at a minimum will need neutering/spaying and vaccinating.

"We will do a more in-depth post later for now we are focusing on the bunnies and trying to work out a plan. We have updated our wish list with things that can help and I have put our PayPal details below if anyone can donate to our foreseeable vet bill."

A post on Facebook page 'Spotted: Bromsgrove-The Original' added: "Late last night we discovered over 80 domestic rabbits had been dumbed in the Chaddesley woods! We’ve managed to capture about 60 of them.

"However I wanted to make you all aware particularly anyone with dogs as there are several dead ones dumped in the bushes!! Not a pleasant sight! If you are out and about and see any please let us know and we will try and rescue them as well (unless you are able to do yourselves). We’ve managed to get another 3 this morning!

"If anyone knows of any sanctuaries that would help us please let me know" A spokesperson for the RSPCA has been approached for comment.
