The 100 fans have been waiting for any updates on a planned spin-off for ages, fearing that it may have been silently cancelled.
Thankfully, that isn't the case, although the spin-off hasn't exactly made much progress yet.
The CW boss Mark Pedowitz appeared on a network press call (via Deadline) to state that: "There are still discussions going on — it is not done in any way, shape or form. The discussions are still happening."
While the news is certainly disappointing for fans, it's not the worst outcome either.
When it was first announced, the spin-off was stated to be focusing on the early days of the apocalypse, almost 100 years before the main series. It would have/will/may hone in on the survivors dealing with the immediate trauma and trying to band together to create a new society moving forward.
A 'backdoor pilot' was featured in the final season of The 100, dedicating time to set up what could be followed up on in a full series, although the publication reports that the 'options' for the cast of that backdoor pilot have expired.
The 100 aired on The CW in the United States and on E4 in the United Kingdom. The seventh and final season wrapped up in the September of last year.
