1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton stuns fans as she reaches new weight loss goal
Tammy Slaton, star of '1000-lb Sisters', has been praised by fans for reaching a new milestone in her weight loss journey.
The 38-year-old has captivated audiences with her remarkable body transformation since their TLC series began in 2020.
Tammy Slaton, who was previously confined to a wheelchair and weighed 725 pounds, underwent bariatric surgery in July 2022 to kickstart her journey. However, before she could qualify for the procedure, she had to reduce her weight to 550 pounds, leading her to enter a food addiction rehab centre.
Despite initially leaving the centre heavier than when she entered, she returned and finally reached her goal. In December 2023, she revealed that she had lost an astonishing 440 pounds and can now stand and walk unassisted, although she still requires an oxygen tube to aid her breathing.
Almost a year later, Slaton shared another significant achievement in her weight-loss journey. A clip from the October 15 episode of the TLC show, obtained by PEOPLE, reportedly shows Tammy at a doctor's appointment with her sister and co-star Amy.
"At my rock bottom, I was weighing about 725 pounds," she admitted. "The last time I saw Dr. Smith was about nine months ago and I was around 420 pounds. He told me I had to lose 100 pounds before my next appointment. I'm extremely nervous.”
The TV star then stepped onto the scale, which showed that she weighed 303.8 - surpassing her own goal. She was left astounded by the results, exclaiming: "I surpassed Dr. Smith's goal, my goal, all the goals!"

Tammy described her weight loss as "unbelievable" in a heartfelt video. She shared, "Now that I've lost so much weight, I'm able to do things that I never would have been able to do. I think people do take the small things for granted. Being able to cross your legs and put your shoes on... I'm able to sit comfortably on the toilet, I've never been able to do that."
Her achievement has garnered praise from many, with one user commenting, "You are awesome! Such determination! " Another person expressed, "I’m so proud of her. She has done a phenomenal job," while someone else added, "So proud of you Tammy. Live your life to the fullest. Wishing you all the best,".
Dr. Smith, speaking to the publication, wasn't surprised by Tammy's success, stating, "Tammy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to making sustainable lifestyle changes to maximise the benefits of her surgery," He continued, "I've emphasised the importance of making small, daily adjustments to ensure not only her continued progress but also her long-term success. She's truly committed to her health journey."
Dr. Smith also revealed that skin removal surgery is the next step for Tammy, typically recommended after maintaining weight for three to six months. However, he acknowledged that if Tammy has "a significant amount of loose skin that's affecting her mobility and contributing to other health concerns," it might be necessary to proceed with the surgery sooner.
Following a consultation, the specialist noted: "Given this," adding, "it makes sense to consider surgery sooner rather than later, even though she will continue to lose weight in the future."
