Britain’s Got Talent has been the ray of sunshine we’ve needed to brighten our gloomy days recently, with the 14th series of the popular ITV talent show seeing some of the most jaw-dropping acts yet.

So far, we’ve seen a sign language choir, a pint-sized superstar and actual time travel performed in front of Simon Cowell and co.

Here’s our round up of some of the most bonkers, bravest and best auditions from this series.

1. Wesley Williams

“Death-defying unicyclist” isn’t a phrase you’d hear anywhere else but Britain’s Got Talent – and although Wesley Williams’ routine may be incredibly niche, it certainly isn’t boring. Just as you think he cannot go any higher – he does, with our hearts in our mouths the entire time. But we needn’t be afraid that he may topple over, as Williams is an expert – holding the Guinness World Record for World’s Tallest Rideable Unicycle.

2. X1X

Dance troupes have become slightly passé on Got Talent, with no-one ever quite matching up the Diversity’s lofty standards. However, they may have finally met their match with X1X – a group that mixes acrobatic dance routines with dizzying heights. Don’t try this at home, kids.

3. Mandy Muden

Britain’s Got Talent has been dominated by male magicians over the years, so ‘Magic’ Mandy Muden was a welcome breath of fresh air when she burst onto stage in full fabulousness. Her gimmick? Not actually being very good. And no, that’s not us being mean, the ‘magic’ of Mandy’s act is that she delivers each trick with on-the-nose comedy timing. Who says witches have to be wicked?

4. Fayth Ifil

She was the singer so sensational that she got miserly music mogul Cowell to slam down the Golden Buzzer. The 12-year-old stunned with her performance of Tina Turner’s Proud Mary, which was so energetic it got the entire audience on their feet – and will get you to stand up and sing, guaranteed.

5. Yakub

The 10-year-old schoolboy wowed the judges with his contemporary routine to the Lion King, leaving Alesha Dixon particularly impressed. With his mum in tears backstage, you’ll find yourself struggling to keep your eyes from welling up.

6. Billy and Chantelle

The children’s acts truly are giving the adults a run for their money this year, with the 14 and 12 year old performing a beautiful, balletic performance to Heaven is a Place on Earth.

7. Jon Courtenay

So terrified up on stage that he was ready to burst into tears, all of 46-year-old Jon’s fears faded away when he sat behind his piano and sang his comedic stylings. It’s little wonder Ant and Dec pressed down the Golden Buzzer – especially after they got a little shout out.

8. Sign Along With Us

Tissues at the ready. Sign Along With Us made the nation burst into tears with its hugely emotional rendition of The Greatest Showman’s This is Me. After thanking the choir for “its amazing, positive message”, David Walliams slammed down the Golden Buzzer – and rightly so.

9. Allan Finnegan

It’s not a name you’d expect to see up in lights – but Allan Finnegan very well should see his name above a stage door. The 52-year-old is no stranger to crowds, being a Baptist minister, but his hobby away from the church sees him spread a very different sort of word as he stuns with his on the money anecdotal comedy.

10. Sean Heydon

We thought X (who was unmasked as Marc Spelmann in 2019) could never be topped as Britain’s Got Talent’s most jaw-dropping magician.

That is, until we saw Sean Heydon – with the 36-year-old seemingly defying the laws of physics and turning back time.

Don’t believe us? Watch for yourself.

11. Papi Flex

Not for the faint-hearted or the squeamish – Papi Flex set our teeth on edge when he crawled like a spider out on stage. However, the talented contortionist is more than fit for the Royal Variety Performance – if Her Majesty can bear to watch…

12. Nabil Abdulrashid

Nabil Abdulrashid performed stand-up and his hilarious routine delighted the judges and left Alesha Dixon reaching for the all-important buzzer.

The 34-year-old’s jokes centred on the fact he is a Muslim and he made a series of quips about the ways this affects his life.

13. Sirine Jahangir

Amanda Holden was reduced to tears by a 14-year-old blind singer’s audition on Britain’s Got Talent.

Sirine Jahangir, from London, earned a standing ovation from the crowd at the London Palladium – and four yeses from the judges.

14. Nora Barton

The 96-year-old got the seal of approval from the judges.

Nora Barton, from West Yorkshire, took to the stage at the London Palladium, as her daughter told the audience: “She’s sung for people all her life so at 96 this is a treat, this stage.”

15. Crissy Lee

The 76-year-old rocking and rolling pensioner left Simon Cowell speechless as she threw off her cardie and rocked out on the drums.

It has since been revealed she toured with The Beatles and has played with some of the music industry’s most celebrated artists.

16. Myra Dubois

Loved on the UK drag scene, Myra Dubois left the judges impressed and Alesha Dixon in tears of laughter.

She cracked the audience up by saying Simon Cowell’s gleaming teeth remind her of a newly-fitted kitchen, as David Walliams was full of praise for the ‘hilarious’ act, saying: ‘I got to see Lily Savage perform at the Vauxhall Tavern in about 1990 and it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Until I’ve seen you tonight".

Britain’s Got Talent continues at 8pm on ITV
