Life for the Mitchell family may never be the same again after next week, when Phil is attacked and left for dead by an unknown culprit.

Phil’s bad day will get a whole lot worse when recent events catch up with him and he's assaulted over at The Arches, kicking off one of the biggest stories of the summer.

Keanu, Ben and Kat will all have tense clashes with the Walford hardman on the day of his brutal beating, but bosses are staying tight-lipped on who is actually responsible.

2. Ben makes some big discoveries

Despite the secrecy around Phil’s attack, Ben is currently one of the most likely suspects, given what he finds out in the lead-up. Ben (Max Bowden) makes an intriguing discovery while helping over at the E20, which leaves him celebrating with Lola.

Unfortunately, a more unpleasant surprise awaits Ben as he later learns that his father Phil has cut him out of his will and replaced him with Keanu – a move which leaves him raging.

In fact, Ben is so fired up that he is soon rushing off to find Keanu, but does this give him a motive for Phil’s vicious assault or is it simply a red herring?

3. Kat is left shaken

Along with Ben, Kat’s name is also currently in the mix of Phil suspects, due to the fact that she also has a bitter clash with him in the moments before the shocking incident.

When Phil witnesses a drunken Kat mocking him about the stolen money, he’s furious and make his feelings known.

Despite Kat trying to backtrack, Phil takes her outside and cruelly threatens her young son Tommy. Kat is left shaken by Phil’s angry reaction, but could she be tempted to get revenge?

We all saw this one coming a mile off, but Ruby’s new romance with Max is about to cause major trouble in her friendship with Stacey. Despite attempting to put on a brave face, Stacey will eventually see red and admit that she isn’t happy about her best friend dating her ex.

Confused, Ruby decides to arrange a double date with Martin and Max to try and get to the bottom of what’s really going on.

Unsurprisingly, there’s awkwardness all-round when the four of them head out together, and it’s not long before Stacey and Ruby are at each other’s throats. As the two women struggle to be civil, Ruby eventually confronts Stacey about what’s really going on. But she might not like what Stacey has to say...

5. Martin’s had enough

While Stacey frets about Ruby’s new relationship, it’s clear that she should really be paying more attention to her own as poor Martin has well and truly had enough.

Fed up of being made to look like a fool, Martin confronts Stacey when they are alone at home and demands to know whether she still has feelings for Max.

Although Stacey assures him that she doesn’t, Martin makes his uncertainty known and tells her that she needs to prove that if she wants their marriage to work. Are the Fowlers heading for another split?

It’s the moment of truth for Sharon next week as she finally learns who is the father of her baby. Phil has been left delighted by Sharon's extremely unexpected pregnancy news – unaware that there’s a big question mark over the baby’s paternity, thanks to her hasty hook-up with former lover Keanu a few months prior.

After weeks of uncertainty, Sharon will finally get the answers she needs when the DNA test results come through next week. But who’s the daddy?

As Adam struggles to juggle his double life, he will focus his attention on patching things up with his lover Habiba by vowing to take her out on a date. Although Adam intends to follow through on his promise, he is left in a tricky predicament when he arrives home to a dressed-up Honey, who wants to spend the evening in together.

Desperate to sneak off and meet Habiba, Adam arouses new suspicions in Honey when he makes a host of excuses to leave. Is she getting closer to the truth?

As Karen continues to pursue a romance with newcomer Caren, some wise words from her daughter Bernadette will leave her reevaluating what she really wants.

Karen is currently exploring a possible romantic connection with Caren – who she met at Walford Pride – but she’s left with some big decisions to make when things start to get more serious.

Not entirely convinced by her mum’s new relationship, Bernadette forces Karen to think about what she’s doing. Does Karen see a future with Caren or not?

Described as “a ball of positivity with a serious zest for life”, Sheree is apparently never afraid to share her opinion or go toe-to-toe with anyone when they've done her wrong. So, what will Denise make of Patrick’s new woman? You’ll have to wait and see.
