Tensions flare up for the Mitchells once again as Phil gives Ben a hard time over his recent wayward behaviour, unaware of the real reason that his son is struggling so much.

Phil later changes tactics by trying to coax Ben into opening up and he also digs out an old boxing trophy to give to his son as a gift. Ben is delighted over the touching present, until he overhears a very revealing meeting between Phil and Shirley that's certain to anger him. One step forward, two steps back.

2. Shirley reveals her future plans

Shirley could also face some opposition from her own family, as recent events lead to her making a decision over her future. Shirl explains that she'll be leaving her job at the Queen Vic, which is music to Linda's ears.

One person who isn't so happy is Mick, who fears that Shirley is getting involved in something dodgy and warns her to keep any illegal activity well away from the pub. Not that he can talk, after the Aidan fiasco.

3. Tiffany considers a shock exit… but Keegan has other ideas

Tiffany's future is called into question as she makes plans to move back to Milton Keynes, much to the surprise of her loved ones on the Square. Sadly, the one person she hopes will ask her to stay – Keegan – is still barely on speaking terms with her and his frosty reaction only strengthens her desire to leave.

It's only at the last minute that Keegan realises he's making a terrible mistake by letting Tiffany go, so he races to the tube station just as she's about to head off. Keegan reveals the extent of his feelings for Tiffany, but will it be too late to make a difference?

4. Karen makes a big announcement

This isn't the only Taylor family drama unfolding, as Karen leaves her loved ones curious by teasing that she has some "important news" to share.

Never one to do things by halves, Karen gathers all of the Taylors, Bakers and Atkins family members together for lunch at her place – but nobody is prepared for her announcement. What does she want to tell them?

5. Gray and Mitch's tension boils over

When Keegan spends the day in Gray's office, he's inspired by one of the people he meets and decides that he wants to quit school. Mitch is furious over the news – especially when he finds out that Keegan's time with Gray has led to the surprise move.

Mitch is quick to confront Gray, leading to some nasty insults and the two men coming to blows. Will the Square's new villain Gray show his true colours amid the row?

6. Stacey and Kat continue to clash

The Slaters' big feud rumbles on, with Stacey and Kat no closer to resolving their differences. When Sonia invites both Kush and Kat to a results party that she's planning for Bex, it leads to Martin and Kush setting a trap in the hope that Stacey and Kat will make amends.

When the scheme inevitably backfires, Kat is secretly crushed that there's seemingly no way forward for her and Stacey.

Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey, recently revealed: "I think it’s different for Martin and Kush. Yes they're best mates but they're not family, so I think it's easier for them to forgive and forget.

"But Kat and Stacey are basically sisters, so it cuts a lot deeper. We've seen them both say horrible things to each other, they're both headstrong and will not back down.

"There's a scene coming up actually, between Kat and Stacey, and it really shows just how much what's happened between them has affected Stacey. She pours her heart out to Kat, and Kat's reaction will surprise viewers I think. That's all I'm going to say!"

7. Stacey makes a worrying discovery about Max – and Martin is jealous

It's a busy week for Stace, as she also has her old flame Max on her mind. Max is still struggling after recent events and when he injures himself on a broken picture frame during a particularly low moment, Stacey is horrified by what she finds.

As Stacey concentrates on helping Max when he breaks down, she ends up skipping a romantic meal she had planned with Martin. Martin is surprisingly understanding when Stacey explains that she can't make dinner, but this may be an act as he secretly glares at Max's house from across the Square.

8. Ruby is Max's new love interest

Martin probably doesn't have to worry too much, as next week's episodes kick off a summer fling storyline for Max and Ruby. The pair get to know each other when Max helps Ruby out with her work accounts. Hoping for a new man in her life but feeling downcast after a recent bad date, Ruby starts to see Max in a new light.

Stacey feels awkward when she catches Ruby and Max together, forcing Max and Stacey to come clean over their complicated history. Will it be enough to put off Ruby from pursuing her new love interest?

9. Kim reveals that she's leaving

There's a bombshell for the Fox sisters, as Kim tells Denise that she has landed a new job in Scotland and will be leaving the Square. This leads to the warring siblings resolving their recent differences.

EastEnders bosses have confirmed that Tameka Empson, who plays Kim, is taking a break but won't be leaving the show permanently. Phew!

10. Lisa's return storyline begins

Show chiefs recently announced the exciting news that Lucy Benjamin will be reprising her role as Lisa Fowler, and we'll see the seeds planted for her comeback next week.

Lisa's daughter Louise ends up confiding in Mel about the hard time she's facing from some of her bitchy schoolmates now that she's pregnant. Louise also admits that she hasn't shared her baby news with Lisa, so Mel encourages her to break the news. Will Louise get the support she needs from her mother?

11. Ian worries about Bobby

EastEnders has just started a storyline which will see Bobby Beale exploring the Islamic faith, drawing strength from his new direction after the traumatic time he has faced in recent years. The positive and uplifting story will show how Bobby uses his faith to find peace.

As Bobby's birthday arrives next week, he continues to keep quiet about the new role of religion in his life – even after a gift from a friend leaves Ian and Kathy curious.

At Bobby's party later on, Ian grows concerned by his son's distracted behaviour, unaware that there's no reason to worry. How long will it be before Bobby sets the record straight?

After hearing Jack talking about the police catching him out for attacking Fraser, Stuart comes up with a clever plan. How will Jack react?
