The second season of 13 Reasons Why remains shrouded in secrecy, but star Kate Walsh has offered some clues as to what fans can expect when the show returns.

The actress, who plays Hannah's mother Olivia Baker on the Netflix drama, told People Now that her character wants to get to the bottom of what led to her daughter's suicide.

"We'll see more and more of the mystery getting revealed, and I think you see Mrs Baker still questing for the answers of what happened to her daughter," she said. "We've already started shooting, so I know where it's going."

Walsh also heaped praise on creator Brian Yorkey, and teased what he's adding to the second season.

"His use of time and going back and forth in time, we'll see more of that," she said. "He has such an incredibly all-encompassing vision for the show.

"He does a great job of playing with storytelling in a kind of Rashomon kind of way, so you see it from lots of different points of views."

Dylan Minnette and Katherine Langford will reprise their roles as Clay Jensen and Hannah Baker respectively – with Hannah to appear in flashbacks.

Minnette recently spoke about what he wants to see happen with Clay in season two.

"I'd love to see Clay escape his demons from season one," he said. "I'd like to see him in a healthier place.

"The show takes place a few months after season one. I'm curious to know how Clay has coped the last few months. Did he find closure? Is he moving on?

"Part of me wonders if he'll be able to escape his anxiety, but I doubt it because that would make for compelling storytelling if he still has anxiety."

13 Reasons Why season one can be watched now on Netflix.
