14 cars spotted exceeding 20mph speed limits in Thornton

A number of cars were stopped in the Thornton area today for travelling above the speed limit.

Thornton-Cleveleys and Poulton Police have been out twice in the town for Community Road Watch. Officers visited Tarn Road and Stanah Road, both 20mph zones.

They state the 'vast majority of drivers' were driving responsibly and under the speed limit, but quite a few were caught in excess of it. On Tarn Road, out of 28 cars, five were travelling more than 25mph in the 20mph zone, with the highest speed being 30mph.

On Stanah Road, out of 78 cars there were nine travelling above 25mph, with the highest being 31mph.

A spokesperson states: "As you may have noticed, this week is ASB awareness week and today is community heroes day. There was a volunteer special carrying out the activity today - our community hero behind the camera!"
