Attempts to identify the owner of a boat and trailer dumped on a pavement in Stoke-on-Trent have so far drawn a blank. The vessel was "moored up" on Lightwood Road, Dresden, on Monday and is 'posing a danger'.

The boat will be removed tomorrow (September 27) and taken to a council depot - and if the "captain" cannot be identified within 14 days it will be crushed.

A Stoke-on-Trent City Council spokesman confirmed: "Our teams have been out this morning to look at removing the vessel from the side of the road, however, due to some complexities, a specialist removal company is required.

"This has been booked for tomorrow and will be moved to a council compound for 14 days. For the time being, the boat has been made safe. At present, we are still yet to identify the owner of the boat."

One resident suggested: "I’d check all the Bullseye contestants for the area for back in the 80s." Another added: "Look what you could have won." While one referenced the bad weather of late and said: "Probably just waiting for the next flood."

Anyone who knows the owner is asked to email environmental.crime@stoke.gov.uk
