15 great places to eat and drink by the sea in Northern Ireland

Well the summer is trying to show its face so we decided brilliant pubs and restaurants by the sea in Northern Ireland needed a bit of a show.

1. Jamaica Inn, Bangor

A favourite with locals - and visitors too - this place is packed out on a sunny day and the food is pretty amazing too. The view is to die for - you can see right across the lough on a nice clear day.

2. Dirty Duck, Holywood

A little gem just a minutes walk from Holywood train station. Again it is a favourite with anyone from the area and is great for a spot of food as well.

3. Harbour Bar, Portrush

Ask anyone about drinking on the North Coast and the Harbour Bar is sure to pop up in conversation - there's a reason for it. Make sure it's on your list for a visit this summer.

4. Salty Dog, Bangor

Another lovely setting by the sea in Bangor. Right beside the marina - and dog friendly - this is the prefect place to stop off while walking along the coast.

5. Daft Eddy's, Killinchy

Again, if you ask anyone for a spot for a bite and a drink by the sea, this place springs to the minds of many. Great craic and amazing staff.

6. Windrose, Carrickfergus

Chill out with a glass of wine - or a nice cold pint -while admiring the marina in Carrickfergus. Very popular with locals and a nice place for a spot of food too. On to a winner.

7. Pier 36, Donaghadee

As the name might suggest this is right beside the pier at Donaghadee, so you can enjoy a stroll and everything Donaghadee has to offer before popping in for a nice drink and some good food.

8. The Cuan, Strangford

A super location in Strangford and the food is definitely worth the journey if you are not from those parts.

9. Bayview, Portballintrae

This place is guaranteed to be busy when the weather is good, but it is worth the visit so as soon as you see some sunshine then why not head down.

10. Anchor Bar, Portstewart

Another popular spot in Portstewart - the bar is great during the day and if you want to make it an all night event, well you can do just that.

11. Harry's, Cushendall

Great local food and you are guaranteed to have a bit of craic here, enjoy.

12. Portrush Yacht Club, Portrush

Right by the marina, this is a stunning place to sit and have a drink in the sun - you know you want to.

13. Shenanigans, Portstewart

Watch the world go by as visitors enjoy fun and frolics in Portstewart. You can get the perfect people watching spot here at Shenanigans.

14. Harry's Shack, Portstewart Strand

A great addition to Portstewart - right overlooking the gorgeous Strand beach, there's no better place to go if you need a break from all that sand.
