The 15 London hospitals falling below national standard
A new study has revealed that 15 London hospitals are currently performing below the national standard set by the Care Quality Commission. London was also revealed to be the area with the highest proportion of hospitals not meeting this standard, according to the study by Patient Claim Line.
The research also found that nationally 49% of NHS hospitals in England are performing below the required national standard, falling into the ‘requires improvement’ or ‘inadequate’ categories. It was also revealed that only 6.8% of NHS hospitals in England are currently rated ‘outstanding’.
Hospitals are assessed on five key categories; safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and how well-led they are. Hospitals that are rated as ‘outstanding’ are said to be ‘performing exceptionally well’, while hospitals which are rated as inadequate are said to be ‘performing badly’.
