More than 150 empty laughing gas canisters have been removed in a community clean-up. Tunstall Town Centre Community Association carried out the clean-up on the stretch of High Street between Lidl and Christ Church.

The rubbish has been handed to Stoke-on-Trent City Council for disposal. It comes as crumbling High Street buildings and the Tower Square clocktower have had a facelift.

An association spokesman said: "A productive morning clearing some of the rubbish dumped from Lidl car park towards Christ Church. Over 150 empty canisters of nitrous oxide and 15 bags of rubbish were collected. Many thanks to those who came and helped."
