£16k of illicit tobacco seized from two shops in Rossendale
Thousands of pounds worth of illicit tobacco products have been seized by police in Rossendale.
Rossendale’s Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by Trading Standards to find the products. On Friday, November 22, officers carried out several visits in a joint operation.
During these visits around the area, a large quantity of illegal tobacco, cigarettes and vapes totalling £16,000 were discovered and seized. These came from two shops in Rossendale and Trading Standards are now involved.

They will be taking appropriate enforcement action against the premises.
Sergeant Paul Marsden, from Rossendale Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These products are not only illegal, but they can also pose serious health risks to those purchasing and consuming these goods.
“We will continue to work with our partners to remove these illicit goods from the streets of Rossendale, and we would encourage our communities to report any shops who are breaking the law so we can continue to disrupt the sale of illegal tobacco.”
