New 17 hour yellow ice warning issued for Coventry and Warwickshire

A new 17 hour long yellow ice warning has been issued for Coventry and Warwickshire. The Met Office has, this afternoon, issued the alert.

It comes into force at 5pm and will remain in place into 10am tomorrow morning (November 20). The warning says that icy patches are expected to form this evening and overnight.

This could, the Met Office has warned this could lead to i cy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, and 'some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.' The warning is in place for the whole of the West Midlands region.

Warwickshire County Council already revealed when its gritting teams will be out this evening. Its highways team warned that road surface temperatures could reach as low as -3.3C.

Cold weather is set to dominate tomorrow, according to the latest forecast. It reads: "A cold, crisp and widely frosty morning, but remaining dry and settled with plenty of sunny spells through the day. Becoming cloudier by the evening with light winds. Maximum temperature 4C."

But the following 48 hours could see more snow as the forecast states: "Remaining dry but cold through Thursday and Friday with plenty of sunny spells, occasional wintry flurries and widespread frost at night."
