As we start to approach summer, there is no doubt that everyone will be looking for the best getaway spots to enjoy with their family and friends.

It’s no secret that we all love a good bargain and for those looking to keep the costs down this year, camping may be the best option. If you already have all the equipment but are unsure of where to set up camp, Dalesbridge in Austwick might be the one for you.

The family-run site has plenty of facilities from a fully-licensed bar, shop and a popular pizza oven as well as bike storage.

There are also many walking and cycling routes that begin directly from the site. For those who enjoy bike riding, you’ll be pleased to know that you can pedal over to a cycle-friendly site in Dalesbridge between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland.

There is also lockable bike storage on site as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose your bike after long days up. Camping is the most affordable option, with prices starting at £18 however the price goes up to £64 during their peak seasons.

During busier periods, a minimum stay of two may apply. You can have up to six people on grass pitch and the campsite also offers walker cabins and camping pods for up to four people.

Those who've already checked in have left glowing reviews. One camper wrote on Pitchup: “Everything. The toilets were nice and clean. I didn't get to check the pub out but the outside seating was lovely. Plenty of space on the pitches. Being able to park the car next to the tent is a must as it enables my autistic child to find his safe space and transition. Everyone was friendly, lovely atmosphere all around with nice views.”

Another person said: “Friendly welcoming staff. Extremely clean facilities (normally hate public toilets!) Well maintained pitches, location of campsite easy to find and close to Yorkshire three peaks. Our whole reason for the trip. Both me, my husband and children all loved the site, would definitely come again.”

While one added: “Dalesbridge is a great campsite in a fabulous location. Lots of walking in a beautiful area. The facilities are excellent lots of hot water. And even a lovely cosy bar on site. The staff are very friendly and the camp site is well run.”

Scoring an impressive 4.5 out of 5 stars on Tripadvisor, one reviewer said: “Great site with easy access to loads of places. The pitches are all pan flat and plenty with electric. Showers and washing areas are all sound. We were there over bank holiday and it was peaceful. Bar and pizzas on site. We had lovely pizza Sunday night. This is perhaps our 4th or 5th visit.”

Another added: “My first time camping at The Dalesbridge and certainly won’t be my last. Ideal spot if you love walking/ wild swimming/ relaxing with 10/10 views. The woodfire pizzas, location and morning coffee were also amazing. Absolutely perfect weekend!”
