A 19th-century church in Rockford, Illinois, has been reduced to rubble after a fire there on September 2.
The Rockford Fire Department said the fire started at the north side of the Rockford Masonic Cathedral at 6:24 pm and quickly spread because of the wooden structure.
The church, which dates back to 1869, was abandoned, condemned, and did not have power, according to local media.
Overnight into September 3, “a demolition company worked in conjunction with the fire department to safely demolish the building,” the City of Rockford said. Credit: Sarah Codina via Storyful
