PALESTINE, Texas (KETK) – The Palestine Police Department released a statement that two individuals were arrested after drugs were found in their car following a traffic stop on Jan. 25.
According to PPD, on Jan. 25 at approximately 3:39 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of South Street and South Jackson Street and identified the driver as Lisbeth Guity, 28 and Harry J. Shepherd, 39.
PPD said that Guity was observed as throwing an object out of the window before stopping the vehicle, which was later identified as a joint. Authorities said they searched the vehicles and found suspected methamphetamine weighing 11.58 grams, suspected cocaine weighing 3.28 grams and a small bag of marijuana.
Guity and Shepherd were arrested and taken to the Anderson County Jail and were charged with possession of a controlled substance more than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, possession of a controlled substance more than or equal to one gram and less than four grams, and possession of marijuana under two ounces. Guity was also charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair for allegedly attempting to discard evidence.
