2 pedestrians killed in separate Outaouais collisions overnight

Two separate vehicle collisions on Saturday night in the Outaouais region have left two pedestrians dead.

The first occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Route 105 in Messines.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, a pedestrian in her sixties was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in the dark. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Maniwaki hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene to establish the circumstances and causes of the accident. The road reopened to traffic at 1:40 a.m.

The second accident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. when another pedestrian was struck on Saint-Louis Street in the Touraine district in Gatineau, police said.

Emergency services transported the victim to the Hull hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The area remained closed to traffic on Sunday morning while police investigated the incident.
