2 People Reported Missing as Floodwaters Ravage Northern Italy
Two people were reported missing and more than 1,000 had to leave their homes to find safer locations in northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region after heavy rains led to flooding on September 18 and 19, according to a local report.
This footage was released by Vigili del Fuoco, Italy’s firefighting and emergency response organization, who said that it shows teams operating in Bagnacavallo, which flooded after a break in the embankment of the Lamone river.
As part of a red alert issued for the town of Bagnacavallo, schools, markets, and other facilities were to be closed on Thursday and Friday.
Several rivers in the region overflowed their banks, leading to flooding and further evacuations, according to the news outlet Corriere di Bologna. Credit: Vigili del Fuoco via Storyful
