It’s no secret that the beauty world has become obsessed with glitter - from glitter lips, roots, brows and boobs – we thought we had seen it all.

That was until London Fashion Week, when Preen by Thornton Bregazzi sent models down the catwalk with a sprinkling of sparkle all across their faces.

The creation was courtesy of esteemed makeup artist Val Garland, who coined the look a 'glacial'.

A glimpse behind the scenes even proved that creating the look was equally as magical.

Val and her team gently blew flakes of iridescent and gold glitter onto the models faces, creating a subtle and sophisticated glow.

This isn't the first time makeup artists have experimented with a full-face of glitter.

In 2013 Givenchy covered its models' entire faces in colourful sequins, glitter and mesh for a dramatic and definitely not day-to-day look.

Meanwhile, Opening Ceremony has previously showcased a theatrical avant-garde design, boasting geometric sparkly shapes.

Ashish's spring/summer 2016 show caught everyone's attention as the designer chose to coordinate his rainbow sequin-adorned items with the models' multicoloured makeup.

So, glitter faces or 'glacials' have probably been a long time coming.

And now you can get that glow too, as MAC cosmetics is soon to launch launching the exact glitter used backstage at Preen.

So, get ready to release your inner sparkle this spring.
