Yahoo News 2024 Democratic National Convention: Watch Speeches by President Biden and Hillary Clinton on Day 1
The 2024 Democratic National Convention kicks off Monday, with President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton set to deliver speeches in primetime.
“Our convention is an opportunity to bring the story of our party to the American people — not just the story of what we’ve achieved under the Biden-Harris administration, but how the Harris-Walz ticket is planning to build on that historic record for a new way forward into the future,” Convention Chair Minyon Moore said in a statement. “The story here is simple and it’s one that will resonate with Americans across the country: Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are fighting for the American people and America’s future — Donald Trump is only fighting for himself.”

The DNC is being held at Chicago’s United Center, from Aug. 19-22. It follows the Republican National Convention, which was held last month in Milwaukee, Wis., where former president Donald Trump was certified as the GOP’s nominee.

MONDAY’S THEME
For the People – While Donald Trump puts himself first, Democrats are fighting for the American people. President Biden has exemplified this through his leadership and legacy as a historic president who put the American people’s interest above his own. The accomplishments and results President Biden delivered for people, with Vice President Harris by his side, will be on full display during the convention, as will Kamala Harris’s commitment to fighting on behalf of everyday Americans. At its core, the Harris-Walz ticket is a ticket for the people.
THE HOST
Each night of the DNC will feature a different celebrity host. Tony Goldwyn (Law & Order) will host Monday, followed by Ana Navarro (The View) on Tuesday, Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project) on Wednesday, and Kerry Washington (UnPrisoned) on Thursday.
THE SPEAKERS
President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will address Monday’s convention. Additional speakers include include Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Rep. James Clyburn, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Gov. Andy Beshear, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Sen. Chris Coons and First Daughter Ashley Biden.
