You can get a 23-carat gold leaf ice cream in London this weekend - for free

The Instagram food trend may have started in Japan but gold leaf ice cream is coming to London this weekend - and it won’t cost a penny.

Golden desserts will be available at Food Fest, an annual street food festival hosted by Just Eat, which is taking place at the Last Days of Shoreditch this weekend.

Food lovers can get their hands on a free scoop of 23-carat gold covered ice cream between 2-3pm on July 21 and July 22, in what organisers are calling the ‘Golden Hour'.

It’s important to note that there are only 200 gold leaf ice creams to give away, so get there early to avoid disappointment.

In keeping with its Japanese origins, guests can choose from two ice cream flavours; matcha green tea and coconut. Each frozen dessert will be carefully wrapped in the edible gold leaf.

There will also be peanut butter jelly ice cream at the festival from Flavours Gelato as well as rainbow waffles from Love a Slice.
