34,000 People Evacuated From Homes in Bali As Agung Volcano Alert Level Raised

More than 34,000 people fled their homes on the Indonesian island of Bali on September 24 after Mount Agung Volcano alert levels were raised by the country’s National Disaster Management Agency.

The NDMA said people were being sheltered in 238 locations on the island, causing logistical problems for emergency relief efforts.

The Agency said the threat of the volcano erupting remained high after the alert level was raised to its highest level on Friday, September 22.
