4 Killed as Cyprus Battles 'Most Devastating Fires'

Cyprus Interior Minister Nicos Nouris said on July 4 that volunteers had found the bodies of four people missing in raging wildfires that he described as the worst in the country’s history.

Nouris said the bodies were found in the mountain village of Odou. Andria Evandrou recorded this footage several miles from there, in the village of Vasa Kellakiou.

Her footage shows fires burning nearby and clouds of smoke filling the sky on the evening of July 3.

Evandrou told Storyful the village was out of danger, but several surrounding ones were not. “Half of the island almost is burnt,” she said. Credit: Andria Evandrou via Storyful
