A number of pets in Dorset are looking for their forever homes, including at the Ashley Heath Animal Centre.

Located on the border with Hampshire, the centre offers care for its animals in rural surroundings.

A few animals from the centre are listed below but more can be found on the centre's website.

Buster

Buster is described as a "happy-go-lucky" dog but one who can get anxious with closer contact.

He prefers to get to know and trust you before he is comfortable with being petted.

Buster would suit a quiet adult-only household, free from other pets so he can be the centre of attention.

Additionally, he doesn't like the wind or rain but is happy to go for short walks twice a day when it's dry.

Smokey is a cat who is looking for a forever home after his previous owner sadly passed away.

Having now got used to the cattery environment he has become an affectionate but shy boy.

Smokey is looking for a quiet home where he is the only pet and children are aged 13 years or older.

Additionally, he is not to be rehomed within five miles of Poole (BH15).

Auben and Minx

Auben and Minx are two cats searching for a new home together after a change in their previous owner's circumstances.

Ashley Heath adds: "Auben is a sweet chap who enjoys attention and to take a perch on staff laps.

"Minx is a little more on the shy side but has grown in confidence and also enjoys some attention."

Auben has previously had a mild heart murmur and Minx has a mild allergy to flea bites.

Additionally, they are not to be rehomed within five miles of Wimborne (BH21).

Hop came into the care of the RSPCA due to a welfare concern but is now ready for a new home.

He can be a little nervous but has a sweet nature and enjoys his treats and a bit of calm fuss.

However, he isn't the biggest fan of being picked up but is okay to handle when needed.

Additionally, Hop is looking to live with a female rabbit companion.
