Synonymous with British style, it's hard to deny the timelessness of a trench coat. In fact, I personally won't consider myself a true Londoner until I own at least one iteration of the classic item. Whether paired with your gym gear for a weekend stroll or worn alongside knitted dresses and midi skirts for dressier occasions, the power of the trench coat is, of course, in its versatility.
Despite its utilitarian roots (the item was originally created as a part of an army officer's uniform), over the years, trench coats have undergone several makeovers with various designers and brands reimagining and redesigning the item. Today, the trench is considered a true classic, which would be at home in everyone's wardrobe regardless of age, personal style or gender.
Of course, influencers are not immune to the allure of the timeless trench, as the item regularly pops up on our Instagram feeds throughout autumn and winter. With this in mind, I've compiled five trench-coat outfits I am loving right now, proving just how easily the item can transition from casual to elevated.
