It’s become fashionable to complain about 2016, with its seemingly never-ending stream of political upsets and celebrity deaths.

But could next year be even worse?

Sadly, there are already a couple of signs that 2017 is going to continue the trends of this year – in other words, doom, despair and disturbance of the status quo.

Rising prices and slowing growth could put a chill over our economy next year. UK growth will slow sharply next year as businesses and consumers curb spending in the wake of the Brexit vote, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) warned. The business group said uncertainty over Britain's Brexit negotiations would hit business investment, while surging inflation from the falling pound would put household spending under pressure.
A number of populist, anti-immigrant politicians hope to sweep to power in Europe next year - energised by Donald Trump’s victory and the Brexit vote. William Hill slashed odds on populist, anti-immigrant politician Marine Le Pen for France’s election next year from 6-1 to 2-1. She said her party offers a change from the ‘elites’ - and predicted her election as French president next year will be the third act of a
Several experts have predicted a housing crash for 2017. Lancaster University’s UK Housing Market Observatory said that the London market is entering ‘bubble’ territory - and could crash, possibly leading to a national crash. Professor Ivan Paya from Lancaster University Management School said: ‘Boom and bust in housing markets has a major impact on people's lives. A lot of fundamentalist Christians have made predictions that the world could end next year - with some being so bold as to predict actual dates. The Reverend Donna Larson claims that the number 6,000 is bad news - as the Bible predicts that man will rule the Earth for 6,000 years. She also claims that 2017 marks 70 years since the UN established Israel and 50 years since the unification of Jerusalem - which chime with the prophecies of Rabbi Judah Ben Samuel. Michael Parker, who runs the blog End Time Prophecies says,‘There is a solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, that makes its path diagonally across the US – essentially cutting it in half. Another prophecy is fulfilled on September 23, 2017, when an alignment of planets and stars fulfil Revelation, Chapter 12. This prophecy could very well be the fulfilment of the beginning of the 'Day of the Lord', when God's wrath is declared.’
