School receptionist died during Manchester attack while picking up friend's daughter from concert

A 50-year-old mother of three who went to the Manchester Arena on Monday night to pick up a friend's daughter has been confirmed as another victim of the terror attack.

Jane Tweddle-Taylor, a school receptionist from Blackpool, had gone to the venue with a friend. 

The partner of told how Jane had gone to Manchester with a friend to pick up the friend's daughter when she was killed in the attack.

Mark Taylor told Radio Lancashire: "Jane was obviously a lovely lady and a very good mother to three daughters, liked by everybody, especially in the community in Blackpool where she worked.

"All the school children and work colleagues are reaching out pass on their condolences, and obviously all of her family.

"She was full of life, very energetic with the children, and going to functions and all sorts of different things - skiing and all those happy times and activities."

Mr Taylor said Jane and her friend were sharing a snack together as they waited for her friend's daughter.

"She had gone back to pick them up as arranged and they were both waiting in the area where the explosion happened," he said.

"Unfortunately, Jane didn't come back."

Jane Bailey, Principal of South Shore Academy, where Jane worked, said the school had been left "devastated" by the news. 

"Jane was a well-loved member of staff and our thoughts are with her friends and family at this terrible time.

"Jane was a truly wonderful friend and colleague to all of us at South Shore Academy. 

"As our receptionist, she was in many ways, the public face of the school and she represented us amazingly in this role. 

"We have received numerous messages of condolences from parents, students, community members and colleagues across Blackpool  for which we are very grateful. 

"All of them say the same things about our lovely Jane.... bubbly, kind, welcoming, funny, generous..... the list goes on. Our thoughts are also with her family at this dreadful time and in particular her three daughters. In our school family and theirs ...... she is irreplaceable, much loved and will never be forgotten."

Among those making tributes was Wayne Wareing, whose son Richard was a student at South Shore Academy until last year. he said Jane "always had a smile for everyone".

"She was a lovely, bubbly person who was always smiling," he told the Telegraph.

"A while ago, my son got into a bit of bother at school and when I came down to the school I was raging. Jane calmed me down and with her help we resolved it all. 

"From then on, we got on so well. If my son had any problem it was always her who he would go to to talk it through."

Sharon Harrison wrote on Facebook: "R.I.P Jane, you was such a lovely woman and so caring. South Shore Academy won't be the same without you. Thoughts go out to family and friends."

Gordon Marsden, the Labour candidate for Blackpool South, wrote: "Tragic that two more young victims of the Manchester attack are from Lancashire, as well as Jane Tweddle at South Shore Academy. It brings home the wicked and senseless waste of human life. My thoughts are with their family, friends and colleagues."
