Alvaro Morata made his Chelsea debut on Tuesday after being brought on for his first appearance in a Blues shirt against Bayern Munich in Singapore.

Morata became Chelsea's club-record signing last week when he penned a five-year deal to join from Real Madrid in a deal worth a mammoth £58million.

Shortly after the two clubs agreed a fee, the striker flew to London from the US where Real were holding their pre-season training camp to undergo a medical and complete his move to the Premier League champions.

He then jumped back on a plane to jet into Singapore where he met up with his new team-mates and had his first training session.

With Morata having travelled across the globe to join up with the Chelsea squad, coach Antonio Conte opted to only bring the striker on in the second half of the club's glamour friendly against Bayern in Singapore.

The Spain international replaced academy graduate Jeremie Boga, who had been handed a start following an impressive showing against Arsenal in Beijing, as Chelsea trailed Carlo Ancelotti's side 3-1.

Two goals from Thomas Muller and another from Rafinha had given Bayern a 3-0 lead within 27 minutes before Marcos Alonso's effort just before the break handed the Blues hope.

And it was Morata who played a role in Chelsea's second after winning a corner and then flicking Cesc Fabregas' effort onto Michy Batshuayi, who fired in from close range.

The goal, which came in the 85th minute, proved to be a consolation effort as Chelsea lost 3-2 but it will have boosted the players ahead of their next game against Inter Milan on Saturday.

After being brought on, Morata was deployed on the left of a front three with Batshuayi playing up front and Willian on the right flank.

It was an interesting move from Conte, with Morata expected to be Chelsea's first-choice striker next term and Batshuayi's future at the club in doubt.

But the Belgian's showing in pre-season - two goals against Fulham, two against Arsenal and one against Bayern - could force Conte into a re-think ahead of next season.

Indeed, Eden Hazard will remain out of action until at least mid-September following ankle surgery which would leave a space to fill on the left flank.

That could potentially mean Morata playing on the left and Batshuayi playing centrally for the first few weeks of the season should Conte want to utilise both strikers in games.
