Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty aired a dramatic two-parter tonight (April 30) which saw Ollie's new story begin, Iain's problems intensify and Ethan go back in time.

As always, we've probably all been left with more questions than answers, so here's a quick recap of what happened, and a spoilery insight into what happens next:

1. Why did Fenisha return?

No, you haven't seen a ghost (although technically you have). Fenisha really was alive and well and in ignorant bliss as to the tragic fate that soon awaited her in tonight's episode.

Sadly (but not wholly surprisingly), these scenes were not in real-time, but set in the bittersweet weeks before Fenisha's untimely death.

Olivia D'Lima reprised her role as Fenisha for this slightly unconventional episode, which predominantly focused on Ethan's grief and his attempts to move on.

2. Will we see Amy again?

Newcomer Amy, played by Catrin Stewart, was introduced as part of Ethan's story, but could we see her again? It's likely.

As we discovered in tonight's scenes – and another flashback to a few weeks prior – Amy and Ethan actually met during work hours in the ED, where they initially clashed. That's because Amy works as a police officer under Jan's wife Ffion, and butted heads with Ethan when she fiercely demanded to speak to one of his patients.

Due to her links with both Ffion and the hospital, there's every chance Amy could reappear in future episodes, and George [Rainsford, who plays Ethan] is all for it as well.

"I would love her to come back," he said to Digital Spy. "It's established that she works under Ffion, who is our resident police woman. She is still there, so hopefully when the police get involved again it would be really nice.

"We've got a natural chemistry, there is a bit of history and it doesn't necessarily have to be in a love capacity but I think it would be something else to develop."

3. What next for Ethan?

Tonight's episode, which was initially going to explore a day in the life of Ethan post-Fenisha's death, marked a pivotal moment in his journey, as he realised her perhaps he wasn't ready to move on after all.

Ethan's date only served to remind him of how much he'd loved and lost, and as a result, told Amy he couldn't take things further with her. For now. So, what does the future hold for Ethan after this?

That largely remains to be seen, but we can reveal that Ethan will soon be involved in the ensemble of another character's devastating ordeal, in what will be one of the biggest stories of the year. Stay tuned for more details on that one...

4. Will Iain find Elvira?

Iain emerged as the hero of the hour tonight when he rescued a number of refugees, who had been trafficked and transported in devastating conditions.

This also allowed Ffion, now armed with evidence, to arrest Pat, but it was bittersweet for Iain – who still hasn't found Elvira.

Ffion made a point of commending Iain for saving the lives he had, but simultaneously reminded him that he could never and would never be able to save everyone.

Ignoring her advice, Iain pursued his mission anyway and began looking up farms around Holby. But as names quickly littered the screen, Iain was confronted with the scale of his task and it's clear he could be very much out of his depth here. Will he manage to find Elvira?

5. Will anyone support Ollie?

Ollie's sad new story also kicked off tonight, and will be one to keep an eye on over the coming months.

As Ollie joined his class on a trip to the ED, viewers got an insight into the traumatic ordeal he's been experiencing behind the scenes.

After a day of being taunted and teased by his peers, Ollie was devastated to see a video, featuring a personal discretion of his earlier, had been posted online for everyone to see.

Ollie's ordeal will continue into next week, as his dad David grows worried about his out of character behaviour – but will anyone be able to give the youngster the support he desperately needs?

Next week's episode will see paramedic Sah take centre stage, as the appearance of a familiar face allows their backstory to be explored.

Ollie will also be brought back into the ED after running into more trouble, leaving David at his wit's end.

Casualty continues on Saturday, May 7 on BBC One.
