Holby City spoilers follow.

Next week's episode will pick up from where this week's left off, with Jac and Kian's lives hanging in the balance.

Viewers will learn who exactly fell victim to the gunshot, which will have fatal consequences. In the line of fire, the Darwin team must fight for the survival of patients and each other. But as the gunman creates a new casualty, who is going to walk out alive? And will life on Darwin ever be the same again?

2. Jac's exit

Regardless of whether Jac escapes the siege alive or dead, we do know that next week's episode marks the end of the road for the popular character.

Rosie Marcel has already filmed her final scenes as Jac, after a whopping 16-year stint, and her exit story will play out in next week's poignant scenes.

Speaking about Jac's exit, Rosie said to Digital Spy: "I'm sad obviously – I love the show and I've been there a really long time. It got to a stage where I was just so tired and I really needed that break, to the point where I've not really done anything else... I want to take time off.

"I'm well slept currently, which is very nice. Homeschooling is obviously very difficult for everyone at the moment and I'm very grateful that I can be here and do it. I am feeling good and positive."

With the hospital in lockdown, Cameron will take charge of a problem of another kind unfolding in theatre. The problem is, he really has no idea what he's doing at all.

As a stranded Cameron attempts to combat a crisis on the operating table, his medical incompetence threatens to be exposed as he begins to crack under pressure.

Panicking, Cameron is given a glimmer of hope when he manages to make contact with his girlfriend Nicky – who calmly talks him through the procedure. But has Cameron unwittingly allowed his mask to slip in the process?

4. Jeong starts to see Cameron's true colours

Jeong will be privy to Cameron's vital meltdown, making him another in a rapidly-increasingly line of people starting to realise all is not as it seems with the manipulative medic.

Unsettled by Cameron's behaviour, Jeong's anxiety is palpable in the aftermath, sparking the suspicions of his mentor Ange.

Believing that Jeong is struggling on the back of Skylar's ordeal, Ange encourages him to seek out hospital psychiatrist Lucky. However, when Ange also takes the opportunity to question him on what happened in the theatre with Cameron, will Jeong come clean?

5. Nicky makes an unsettling discovery

It's really not Cameron's week at all, as he also makes a rather big blunder in front of a furious Nicky.

Having solely relied on Nicky's help in saving his patient's life, Cameron is still unable to admit defeat afterward and smugly shows off in front of Ange.

Nicky is horrified when she overhears Cameron claiming that his muscle memory kicked in amid the tense situation, but will this open her eyes to what he's really like?

6. Donna sees Alex in a new light

Amid the siege drama, a panicked Donna is calmed by Alex and starts to see him a new light.

As the intensity at the hospital stirs up unresolved feelings, Donna is also surprised to realise that Alex was behind Dom's success on the dating app.

Despite being touched by Alex's sensitive side, Donna is quick to brush off Dom's comments regarding her love life. But will a tempted Donna give Alex a chance, or is it simply too soon?

Holby City airs these scenes at 7.50pm on Tuesday, February 2 on BBC One.
