6-year-old weather kid sets new bar for meteorologists everywhere with amazing forecast

Look out, Al Roker. You’ve got competition.

Six-year-old Carden Corts was asked by his kindergarten teacher to deliver the weather forecast to his class. But thanks to his video-savvy dad, Charlie, the simple assignment evolved into a hilarious viral video.

Charlie Corts told Yahoo Entertainment, “When I first saw the assignment, I thought to myself, ‘I’ve been preparing for this moment my entire life.’ I’m kidding, of course, but I did know we could have fun and make a funny video together.”

That might be an understatement. Carden Corts’s forecast blends hilarious commentary (“I’m not an actual meteorologist, but I do know my sight words”), goofy sponsorships (“Today’s weather report is brought to you by the letter ‘C’ — and also Pokémon cards!”), and some top-notch greenscreening (Carden battles a hurricane, a blizzard, and spring break partiers). In 24 hours, the video racked up nearly a million views.

Charlie Corts, who works at a digital video network in Nashville called Rated Red (and was previously a producer at Yahoo Finance), used his skills to help with his son’s assignment.

“We shot the whole video in less than 10 minutes in the greenscreen studio at my office,” he said. “Carden was a natural. I would tell him what to say, and he really went for it. He was cracking me up.”

So if he’s a natural, does Carden want to pursue it as a career?

“I don’t think he ever wanted to be weatherman before now,” Corts said, “but he’s already been asked by several TV stations to do their weather forecasts, so you never know.”

While Corts handled this interview on his son’s behalf, Carden wanted to let one thing be known on the subject of his Pokémon fandom. Corts said, “He asked me to point out that he has six EX cards, which I guess is good.”
