The 5 Best Shows To Stream in December 2024

The home stretch before Christmas has arrived, but there are plenty of new shows arriving on streamers this month to either binge before the end of the year.

Those in the mood for mystery can dive into No Good Deed on Netflix Dec. 12 or Laid on Peacock Dec. 19. The former is from Dead To Me creator Liz Feldman, and the latter stars Stephanie Hsu and Zosia Mamet with a touch more comedy.

Black Doves – Dec. 5 – Netflix

Keira Knightley stars as Helen Webb in Black Doves, an action filled spy show set in London at Christmas. Knighyley’s Webb is a dedicated wife, mother and spy. She has been secretly passing her politician husband’s secrets to the clandestine organization she works for, The Black Doves, for ten years. She also has a secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji), who gets assassinated, causing her her spymaster Reed (Sarah Lancashire) to bring Helen’s old friend Sam (Ben Whishaw) back into the fold to protect her. The pair looks to uncover why Jason was killed, and the journey takes them through the dark underbelly of London.

Starring Margo Martindale and executive produced by and guest starring Jamie Lee Curtis, The Sticky coming to Prime Video Dec. 6 is based on the true story of the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist. The show balances drama and dark comedy with a Canadian twist, and it has six episodes.

Bookie Season 2 – Dec. 12 – Max

Created by Chuck Loree (The Big Bang Theory), and Nick Bakay, Bookie is back for a Season 2 starting Dec. 12 on Max, with new episodes rolling out weekly at 9 p.m. ET on Thursdays. The dark comedy stars Sebastian Maniscalco as veteran Los Angeles bookie, who faces a threat to his business with the looming potential legalization of sports gambling in California. The series also stars Omar J. Dorsey, Vanessa Ferlito, Jorge Garcia, Andrea Anders, Maxim Swinton and Rob Corddry. Charlie Sheen, Ray Romano, Zach Braff, and Brad Garrett will guest star this season.

No Good Deed – Dec. 12 – Netflix

From Dead To Me creator Liz Feldman comes a suspenseful show centered around a house for sale in Los Feliz. Three couples — Margo Stalling (Linda Cardellini) and JD Campbell (Luke Wilson), Dennis (O-T Fagbenle) and Carla (Teyonah Parris) and Sarah (Poppy Liu) and Leslie Fisher (Abbi Jacobson) — are fighting over the gem, which is owned by Ray Romano’s Paul and Lisa Kudrow’s Lydia Morgan. The house itself, though, has witnessed more than just the good times of a happy family.

Laid – Dec. 19 – Peacock

Peacock’s Stephanie Hsu-starring comedy LAID arrives December 19. The show also stars Zosia Mamet as Hsu’s character Ruby’s best friend AJ. AJ, who is fascinated by true crime, notices a trend with Ruby’s former ex partners — they’re all dying. She and Ruby take on the challenge of warning those still alive that people Ruby has slept with in the past are dying, while also trying to figure out why this is happening. Michael Angarano and Tommy Martinez also star. The series also includes guest stars Andre Hyland, David Denman, John Early, Ettore “Big E” Ewen, Chloe Fineman, Olivia Holt, Finneas O’Connell, Brandon Perea, Simu Liu, Kate Berlant and Alexandra Shipp.
