Casualty fans won't be treated to their usual dose of ED action tonight (November 9), but don't worry, as we've got you covered until next week.

Normal service will resume next Saturday (November 16) when Casualty returns as usual, with an action-packed episode that will have you on the edge of your seat – and later reaching for the tissues.

Here are seven huge spoilers as Duffy's day out with Charlotte goes tragically wrong and Ethan parts ways with Effie:

1. Charlie makes a big mistake

Charlie's under more pressure than ever before when we catch up with the ED clan later this month, determined to pass the CQC inspection with flying colours.

With that in mind, Charlie is aware that he needs all hands on deck, but due to several unforeseen situations, he finds himself worryingly depleted on the nursing front.

When Robyn drops in ahead of a day out with her daughter Charlotte, Charlie begs her to stick around – insisting that he knows someone who would love to look after the youngster: Duffy.

Charlie is grateful when Robyn tentatively agrees to place Charlotte in Duffy's care, but deliberately fails to mention his wife's deteriorating condition. Something he will later live to regret...

2. Duffy's health takes a devastating turn

Feeling confident as she looks after Charlotte, Duffy decides to venture out of the house and to the local park.

Unfortunately, Duffy has an unexpected episode while she is there and ends up wandering off, leaving Charlotte all alone in the process.

3. Horror for Robyn

Robyn is beside herself when Duffy appears at the hospital without Charlotte and is horrified to realise that her daughter has been left in the city alone.

As a frantic search party ensues, Robyn faces further horror when a seriously-injured 3-year old girl is rushed into hospital after being hit by a car.

Although Robyn eventually learns that the child isn't Charlotte, she starts to despair when Duffy is no further forward in remembering where she left the youngster.

Unable to sit back and wait, Robyn decides to take matters into her own hands. But will she locate Charlotte before it's too late?

4. Robyn can't forgive Charlie

While we aren't going to give away the outcome of Duffy's tragic ordeal with Charlotte, we can confirm that it will, unsurprisingly, have far-reaching consequences for all involved.

Furious after learning of Charlie's negligence, Robyn has a devastating showdown with him at the end of the episode and it's clear that their friendship has been changed forever.

5. Ethan makes a big move with Effie…

Following their big heart-to-heart earlier in the month, Ethan is more smitten with Effie than ever before when next week arrives.

Ethan is relieved to learn that Effie isn't at all put off by the fact he has Huntington's – if anything she believes it's brought them closer together. As Effie vows to make every moment count, she starts to make some big plans for her future – including changing her living arrangements.

Taking the plunge, Ethan gives Effie a key to his flat, but gets a major reality check over the situation when she announces that she doesn't want any more treatment.

6. But later makes a final decision

As Effie makes further plans for her future, she turns down Ethan's offer to move in with him. Instead, Effie declares that she has applied for a house share – excited at the prospect of living with other people her age.

Acknowledging that they have very different ideas for the future, Ethan realises that having a life-limiting illness isn't enough to keep him and Effie together.

Not wanting to hold her back, Ethan decides to let Effie go for good – but what next for him now?

7. Rash is on thin ice

Rash is still in the naughty corner next week, after violently lashing out at his senior colleague Ethan last month.

Aware he is treading on very thin ice, Rash is forced to bite his tongue as Mason teases him about the anger management course he has been ordered to take.

With Dylan on the warpath, Rash becomes determined to get everything perfect and refuses to let Mason near a patient as a result. However, when Dylan chastises him for missing a major diagnosis, has Rash blown his final chance?

Casualty airs these scenes on Saturday, November 16 at 8pm on BBC One.
