Holby City spoilers follow.

Next week on Holby City, Carole gets a devastating diagnosis after returning to the hospital, while Josh discovers Ange's pregnancy news and Max learns a dark secret.

Here's a full collection of the seven biggest moments coming up.

1. Carole is back

Dom’s elation at being asked to give a keynote speech at Jeni’s fundraiser is short-lived when Carole comes in with a burn on her arm.

Carole – Dom's adoptive mother – is confident that her son will tend to her injuries, but is left hurt by his cold and distracted behaviour.

With Dom far more focused on preparing his speech, Carole can't help but cotton on to the notable change in his behaviour.

2. Max fears for the hospital

Max desperately tries to rally the troops after the disastrous CQC findings, but Hanssen is unfortunately in no fit state to help her.

As he continues to struggle in the wake of everything that happens, Hanssen shuts himself off from the wards and the wider world – including his boss Max. Can anyone get through to him?

3. Reyhan's death is revisited

Reyhan may be gone, but the illusive circumstances surrounding his death have not been forgotten – as fans are about to find out in next week's episode.

Max's resolve will be further tested when Sahira’s son Abs turns up at the hospital – drunk, wounded and clearly hiding a dark secret.

Viewers know that Abs was responsible for Reyhan's shocking demise, but his mum Sahira selflessly took the blame. With Abs struggling to cope with his guilt, Max realises that all is not as it seems, but what will she do about it?

4. Hanssen is given an ultimatum

Having learned of Ab's role in Reyhan's death, Max is determined to help him – but can't do it alone. Max is furious when she finally catches up with Hanssen, only to discover that he's been deliberately avoiding her.

She shares her discovery regarding Abs and urges Hanssen to pull himself together in order to support the traumatised teen – insisting that she'll have to report it to social services if he doesn't. Can Hanssen put his struggles to one side in order to help Abs?

5. Ange opens up to Chloe

As Ange reels from her pregnancy news, she is encouraged by Kylie to share it with Josh. Kylie insists that Josh is more mature than he's getting credit for, but Ange is still convinced that he doesn't want children and opts to open up to Chloe instead.

Although Chloe is shocked by her mum's unexpected baby bombshell, she does her best to support Ange as they discuss the next steps.

6. Josh learns the truth

Unsurprisingly, Ange's news doesn't stay secret for very long and it's not long before Kylie is blurting the news out to Josh.

Despite his initial hurt that Ange wasn't immediately honest with him, Josh is keen to stand by her regardless. Ange, on the other hand, is having serious doubts about their future, and doesn't know if she wants to continue the pregnancy at all.

7. Carole gets a devastating diagnosis

Although Carole initially comes into the hospital with a burned arm, it quickly becomes clear that she could be disguising some more worrying symptoms.

Viewers will get a first insight into Carole's inner fears when she tells Dom that she's made him her power of attorney, giving him control over her medical decisions should she not be in a position to make them herself.

When both Sacha and Ange realise Carole is having problems with her memory, she is taken for an MRI scan, which brings up devastating results.

Sacha is forced to break the news to Carole that she has rapidly progressing vascular dementia and is going to need full-time help very soon – but will Dom be there to support her?

Holby City airs these scenes on Tuesday, July 13 on BBC One.
